On 26 April 2023, Yury Marapulets, Director of the Institute of Space Physics and Radio Wave Propagation of the Far Eastern Branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences, Sergey Smirnov, Principal Investigator, and Mikhail Mishchenko, Director of the Acoustics Laboratory, visited the Space Centre Huairou Campus. Researchers Xufei Shen, Tao Chen and Yajun Zhu from the laboratory and Liwen Ren, Director of the Meridian Circle Office, attended the event.

Researcher Xufei Shen welcomed the Russian side to the event, and Director Liwen Ren introduced the important scientific tasks of the Space Centre and its future space science plans. Yury Marapulets, Director of the Russian side, then introduced the Institute of Space Physics and Radio Wave Propagation of the Far Eastern Branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences and the composition and research content of the Institute. Researcher Zhu Yajun reported on the Chinese Meridian Project and the joint research programme between the Meridian Project and the SMILE mission in heaven and earth. Researcher Xufei Shen then reported on the International Meridian Circle Programme and said that through cooperation with the Russian side, the International Meridian Circle Programme could be better promoted and improved.

The Russian delegates were then invited to visit the Space Centre's 60th anniversary exhibition, the Space Science Satellite Mission Operations and Control Hall, and the National Space Science Data Centre.

The Russian delegates highly appreciated the scientific achievements of the Space Centre and looked forward to signing a Memorandum of Understanding with the Space Centre to fully promote collaborative research in the field of space science between the two sides.
